The dodgeball competition heated up today, with several teams winning in shutouts and others going down to the last minute. The Talon Playa of the Day is sophomore Joey Malgesini, who led his team, Team Negative, to a thrilling 2-0 victory.
After two more exciting rounds of dodgeball today, May 21, we are now down to our final eight teams and down to our final day of dodgeball. The tournament has gone chalk for the most part, with six of the final eight teams being teams that received first-round byes.
After crushing Branham High School 10-0 in the first round of CCS last Wednesday, the softball team continued its CCS run by defeating Saratoga High School 6-0 on Saturday, May 18 in the CCS quarterfinals at the San Jose PAL Stadium.

The boys tennis team had another strong season in the De Anza Division, finishing second behind Monta Vista High School. The team advanced to the CCS quarterfinals and also had their two team captains, seniors Spencer Simonides and Anthony Bello, win the CCS doubles championship for the second straight year.Tweet
The second week of Dodgeball commenced today, May 20, and the freshman dodgeball team The Average Joes played a stellar game against their opponents the C-Team. The Average Joes used their agility to their advantage, helping them win by a comfortable margin of 3-0.Tweet

The second round of dodgeball began on Friday, May 17, and the Hood Prospects & Co won their game 3-0. Hood Prospects & Co received a bye in the first round and played a practice game on Monday, which they lost. Hood Prospects & Co learned from their mistakes, however, and dominated in the next round.Tweet
The school’s annual dodgeball tournament kicked off with a bang this week, with 64 teams competing in the single elimination tournament. The 32 games played during lunch in the large gym from Monday, May 13, to Thursday, May 16, were all first round games. The 4 days of competition eliminated 32 teams from the dodgeball berth and yielded a number of incredibly impressive performances from students from every class. Teams of six each played five minutes of furious dodgeball, with scores based on the number of wins each team had in the period. To win a game, a team had to eliminate every team member on the opposing team. The games for the second round began yesterday, May 17.Tweet
Softball picked up an easy 10-0 win against Branham High School yesterday, May 15, in the first round of CCS. Despite recently coming off two tough losses to Homestead and Wilcox and not performing its best in other games, the Lady Eagles were able to focus on the game at hand.Tweet
The annual spring art show will be held in the cafeteria tomorrow, May 17, between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Students will get a chance to walk around during first through sixth period and view a gallery of the art students’ work. Although the show will not include an auction, viewers can contact the artist if they find a piece particularly appealing.Tweet
