After two more exciting rounds of dodgeball today, May 21, we are now down to our final eight teams and down to our final day of dodgeball. The tournament has gone chalk for the most part, with six of the final eight teams being teams that received first-round byes.
The second week of Dodgeball commenced today, May 20, and the freshman dodgeball team The Average Joes played a stellar game against their opponents the C-Team. The Average Joes used their agility to their advantage, helping them win by a comfortable margin of 3-0.
Things are about to get serious. We’re heading into the second week of dodgeball, and with mediocre teams by the wayside, the bleachers are bound to fill up with crazed fans and hyped-up players.
Junior Zach Gospe, a songwriter and performer, is set to release his EP “Live at Midnight” this Tuesday, April 23. The EP will be available for purchase for $5 from junior Riley Soward or Zach. The EP will also be available on Soundcloud, where it can be downloaded for free.
The second round of dodgeball began on Friday, May 17, and the Hood Prospects & Co won their game 3-0. Hood Prospects & Co received a bye in the first round and played a practice game on Monday, which they lost. Hood Prospects & Co learned from their mistakes, however, and dominated in the next round.
The fourth day of the dodgeball tournament finished today, May 16, completing the first round of matches. The tournament will now progress into the round of 32. No single player stood out among the rest on day four, and so, The Talon instead chose to commend the most valuable team of the day: the Freshman Phenoms.
The school entered day three of the first round of dodgeball today, continuing with the same energy and spirit that characterized Monday and Tuesday. As usual, a number of teams and players had impressive performances across the board. The standout performance of the day, however, came from senior Austin Anaya of team Hawhy.
Today, May 14, dodgeball continued with great intensity. The most exhilarating game was between The Tenacious Turtles and Pirate Booties. Despite senior Anthony Otey’s clutch performance after being soloed down to one player, The Talon believes that junior Aidan Mahoney’s performance makes him deserving of the the title of Talon Dodgeball Player of the Day.
Dodgeball started off with a bang today, May 13. Students and teams poured in to fill the large gym — some to watch, some to play. Today, the first round of 16 teams played in the high intensity tournament. But amid the din of cheers and shouts, the screeching of whistles and the furious commentating of social studies teacher Michael Messner, one student, freshman Zachary Wong, turned heads throughout the gym with his impressive performance.

The boys varsity volleyball team’s CCS run suffered a premature end today, May 7, as Los Altos fell to Homestead High School in three tough sets. The team had gained momentum after Friday’s league victory over Fremont High School and its entry into CCS. Tonight, however, that momentum slowed as the skills that the Mustangs brought to the game overpowered that of the Eagles.
Students performed in the spring jazz dance show, “180 Days of Dance,” on Thursday, May 2, and yesterday, May 3.
