Football perseveres through injuries, losses

The varsity football team has been fighting hard to keep up its reputation from last season by adapting to the challenges they are facing in the tougher De Anza League. The De Anza League is the most difficult league that the football team can play in, and the team must deal with stronger opponents this year. Despite missing several key players from its roster and facing countless mid-season injuries, the team has persevered and will continue to battle in the upper league.

Boys water polo finds victory through discipline

First-year Head Coach Johnny Bega watches attentively from the side of the pool as the goalie engages in a valiant defensive effort against an aggressive offensive attack. But the goalie misjudges the timing of the ball by a few seconds and the ball slices the back of the net. After a slight wince, Bega hunches down and barks a few quick words of advice as he turns back to observe the offense. These tidbits of advice seem to be invaluable this season, with his water polo team performing at a high level.

Volleyball keeps up energy for successful season

The varsity volleyball team has been performing exceptionally well this season. It stands 21-6, while its league score is 5-5.
“So far the season’s been pretty good this year,” junior Natalie Dwulet said.

Toe shoes improve runners’ form, leg strength

Most people wouldn’t feel comfortable running barefoot for miles on end, but for certain members of the cross country team, toe shoes are as close as they’ll get to running completely barefoot. These shoes mimic the shape of the human foot, allowing the toes to be spread out. Despite being a relatively new fad, its popularity is growing quickly, and some cross country runners swear these new shoes are great for strengthening muscles and reducing stress on the feet.

With Electronic Art’s (EA) track record for FIFA games having been riddled with glitches and bugs, the company’s hype for FIFA 12 seemed nothing special.
