LAHS was one of 127 California high schools named to the 2011 Honor Roll by the California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) yesterday, May 15. The 2011 Honor Roll signifies California high schools that are successful at reducing achievement gaps and maintaining high levels of student achievement.
The Art Museums of Los Gatos opened on Wednesday, May 9, featuring 22 of the school’s students. Students from Drawing II, AP Studio Art, Photo II and Digital Photo have been accepted into the 2012 County-wide High School Juried Art Exhibition at the Art Museums of Los Gatos. Students were asked to submit work relating to an issue in society, virtually creating answers to these issues.
Students participated in the Day of Silence (DOS) event at school yesterday, May 10. For the entire school day, students chose not to speak in protest against anti-LGBT bullying. This event served to raise awareness of offensive remarks directed toward students in the LGBT community.
On Friday, May 4, the Latino Student Union (LSU) is scheduled to host their annual Cinco de Mayo celebration after school in the quad.
Twenty-six members of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club attended the State Leadership Conference (SLC) at the Hyatt Regency Irvine from Thursday, April 19 to Sunday, April 22. The chapter placed ninth in California, and five members qualified for the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in San Antonio, Texas.
On Wednesday, May 2, Chamber Ensemble and Wind Ensemble will be performing their final concert of the year. The concert is will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Eagle Theatre.

The Mountain View Day Worker Center held a march today, May 1 for the worker rights of immigrants. The march, which featured speakers, aimed to raise awareness about some of the obstacles of the immigration status. The marchers began at Rengstorff Park in Mountain View, took turns on California Street and Showers Drive, and came to a stop in front of the Mountain View City Hall.
West Valley College’s photo department donated thousands of dollars worth of photography-related equipment to the school’s photography program. The equipment donated includes 15 enlargers, used cameras with film, and a large amount of darkroom equipment, including a year’s supply of photography chemicals.

The Los Altos Green Team held activities in the quad during lunch on Monday, April 23 and Tuesday, April 24.
The Haiti Solidarity Club held a presentation today, April 24, called “The Struggle for Education and Democracy in Haiti Today”. The presentation took place in the Eagle Theater and documented the club’s recent trip to Haiti.
