At first glance Lockerz.com, with its claims of free merchandize, seems like any other Internet scam out there. But in reality, Lockerz is a scam-free, invitation-only website that allows members to earn “pointz” which can be redeemed for some awesome prizes.
Pointz can be earned in three main ways. Each time members log into their Lockerz account, they earn an automatic two pointz. A question is also posted each day, and a member can earn two pointz for answering. Recently posted daily questions include “Eat in or take out?” and “Is it too soon to dress up like Michael Jackson?” Third, a member can earn pointz by inviting others to join the site. Each member is limited to inviting 20 friends via e-mail with 2 pointz earned for each member recruited.
Lockerz offers a special reward for any member who successfully recruits 20 of his or her friends to join the site: “Z-lister.” The benefits of being a Z-lister include earning double pointz for a year and receiving a free Z-lister shirt.
Each month, there is a time that the site is open for members to redeem their hard earned pointz. During this time period, which usually lasts only a few hours, members can redeem their pointz for cool prizes in one of the three redemption categories: Cool Brands, Electronics and Experiences.
Cool Brands category offers goods for the fashion-conscious member. Prizes in this section include a Lockerz official stadium blanket for 600 pointz, a hair dryer for 350 pointz and a “Birthday Cake Batter Soda Pop Shower Gel” for 50 pointz (for the dirtier Lockerz member.)
In the Electronics section, prizes such as a cheeseburger USB drive (40 pointz) and The Beatles Rockband (450 pointz) can be found right along iPods, iPhones and flat-screen plasma televisions.
Finally, the Experiences category offers members such privileges as writing a daily question for the site (500 pointz). The most exciting part of this section is the “Cool Gift” option which allows a member to pay 500 pointz for a mystery gift.
Though it is possible to redeem pointz earned on the site for really expensive prizes, they are not exactly free. Actually earning the massive amount of pointz required for many of the prizes is extremely time consuming. Lockerz might not cost money but it sure does cost time.
Besides the prizes, Lockerz has other cool features like the official Lockerz blog located at www.blog. lockerz.com.
The blog provides a nifty monthly feature called “20 for 20” where the Lockerz staff posts its monthly top 20 favorite things in film, fashion, music, art, décor and life in general.
Overall, Lockerz is a fun experience. How users earn points and can win expensive prizes is thrilling. Basically, being a good Lockerz member requires three main attributes: time, patience and luck. So if this sounds like you, be sure to check out www.lockerz.com.
