The Instrumental Music Department had one concert on Wednesday, December 9 and another on Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m. in the Eagle Theatre.
The winter theme “Celebrations!” encompassed the idea that “each piece [of music] has some form of celebration, whether it’s celebrating friendship [or] celebrating someone’s life,” said Instrumental Music Department Director Ted Ferrucci.
Three bands performed on Wednesday, including Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble. Thursday’s performance featured the String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and finished with the Symphony Orchestra, a combination of performers from the Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.
Concert Band Conductor Don Miller believes that the newly added freshman band is improving “every day.”
“They’re doing terrific;they sound great,” Miller said. “I’m real proud of them, always am.”
Concert band played three songs. Then Symphonic Band followed with four pieces before intermission. Wind Ensemble then played five pieces.
Veena Bhatia and Michael Posey, parents of tenor sax player freshman Ryan Posey (in Concert Band) enjoyed the Wednesday night concert.
“I thought they did a great job,” Bhatia said. “Every year we hear them and they just seem to get better and better.”
