A new gate has been built over the walkway between the baseball field and the tennis courts in the back of the school. The gate was built yesterday, September 30.
The gate will be locked on weekday evenings at approximately 9 p.m. and re-opened early in the morning. The gate will remain open at all other times, including the weekends.
“The gate was put up because of vandalism occurring on campus after school hours and late at night,” Principal Wynne Satterwhite said.
Satterwhite said recent vandalism on campus has been a problem for the administration, who has to immediately clean it up. She hopes the new gate will decrease incidents of vandalism on campus.
“What happens is kids enter campus through the front and leave through the back,” Satterwhite said. “This will secure the back of the school.”
Satterwhite said the gate will not impact most students.
“Students won’t be able to notice any difference,” Satterwhite said. “The only people it could affect are members of the community who like to take walks at night.”
