Jazz band is having a concert tomorrow night on Friday, December 4 at 7 in the Eagle Theatre. The concert will be a medley of holiday music as well as other “traditional big band music” according to Instrumental Music Director Ted Ferrucci.
Performers will be dressed in Los Altos Jazz Band polo shirts or black shirts, and may be sporting Santa hats.
“I guess I’m a little excited, but probably more nervous,” said bass player junior Hannah Butensky, a first-year jazz band member.
Tenor saxophone player junior Brett Carr is also a first-year member and said he has “high expectations” for the concert.
“I’m getting very prepared right now,” Brett said. “[I’m] getting really excited for the kick-off … for jazz band.”
The concert will run an estimated one hour and fifteen minutes, according to Ferrucci. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased at the door prior to the performance.
“We’ve had, like everybody else, a lot of sick kids and a lot of people missing rehearsal [and] being out of school, but they’re playing well,” Ferrucci said. “It’s a good group.”
Ferrucci encourages all students to come watch the performance, which he said is “definitely a student-friendly concert.”
“It’s a fun concert,” Ferrucci said. “It’s a really enjoyable program.”
Additionally, the jazz band has also been invited to perform Christmas tunes at Hidden Villa the day following the concert on Saturday, December 5. The band will perform from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m., and Hidden Villa will donate about $100 to the Instrumental Music Boosters program.
