Interact will help host a silent auction on Friday, December 18 at the Los Altos Garden House.
The silent auction will be hosted by all of the Interact Clubs in the area.
“It’s the entire area, which covers multiple schools,” Interact Co-Vice President Tori Greenen said.
Gunn, Mountain View, Palo Alto and Homestead High Schools also helped with the event.
The auction items will donated by Interact. LAHS Interact will be donating gingerbread house kits. As of press time, it is unclear what the other schools are planning to donate.
“We [get] ingredients … and put them in a basket,” Tori said.
All of the proceeds went to Interact’s international project, “End Polio Now,” which aims to eradicate polio in Third World countries.
AVID’s sophomore class has piloted a new program called “Road Trip Nation.”
Road Trip Nation is an online program AVID teachers will use to help prepare students for life after high school. Rather than develop the academic skills students need in college, Road Trip Nation will provide AVID students with the essential interaction skills they need in the real world.
“[The program] uses Road Trip Nation as a metaphor for finding yourself,” AVID teacher Ryan Ikeda said.
A majority of the program revolves around social interactions. The online component offers students to interact using chat rooms and online posts. Students are also assigned to converse through online chatting as well as respond to the posts.
Road Trip Nation also prepares students for the job interview process.
