School holds year’s final assembly, recognizes spring sports and clubs

The last sports assembly this year was held today, March 12, in the large gym after fourth period.

The assembly followed traditional protocol, recognizing seasonal sports and featuring performances from both dance team and the cheerleading team.

This assembly was the first ever to present the new lacrosse team. Seniors Ken Anderson and Zack Winters, the varsity co-captains, introduced the newly added sport to the school. The team was one of many to present.

Clubs also spoke at the assembly. Presentations included ones from Juntos and the Literary Magazine.

English teacher Ryan Ikeda, who was absent due to illness, received the Tireless Teacher award. He was honored for his work with the school and Haiti earthquake relief fundraising. Over February break, Ikeda and history teacher Seth Donnelly traveled to Haiti to distribute $7500 raised by the school.

At the end of the assembly, students partook in the traditional tug-of-war competition. The Sophomore Class beat the Freshman and Junior Classes but lost to the Senior Class. The seniors in turn lost to the faculty team.
