The school’s Speech and Debate Team was recognized this year by the National Forensic League (NFL), placing in the top 10 percent of national NFL chapters.
Specifically the LAHS Speech and Debate Team, independent from MVHS, received 100 degrees and more last year by competing and winning against other schools. However, the schools compete as a combined team across the district.
Dr. Sharon Moerner, Speech and Debate Team coordinator, said that although LAHS received the honor, it was truly for both schools.
Moerner said the team has high hopes for the upcoming year after being acknowledged as a nationally ranked team.
“We are very pleased,” Moerner said.
