Both girls and boys swim teams won league championships on Friday, May 8.
The LAHS boys swim team won against Mountain View High School. The final score was 435-331 for varsity and 489-341 for JV.
In varsity, senior Scott Stephens won the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke events. Senior Adlai Katzenberg took first in the boys 500 freestyle. The two will advance to CCS, which will take place Friday and Saturday, May 21-22.
In JV, Freshman Ian McColl won both 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, while sophomore Nikos Trembois won his 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. They also took first place in two relays.
“All and all, [it was] a really great meet for Los Altos boys,” boys swimming coach Cindy McColl said.
On the girls’ side, 11 swimmers made the CCS cut: seniors Shuya Lou, Haley Bridges and Alex Santiago, juniors Nina Venuti and KK Sandlin, sophomores Cathie Zhang, Olivia Santiago, Amanda Chron and Carrie Beyer and freshman Laura Lee.
According to junior Tasha Mistry, this is swim team’s second season winning its division, so it will likely move up a division next year.
To celebrate, the girls pushed their coach Greg Ely into the pool at the end of the meet.
