The cross country team participated in the San Luis Obispo cross country meet on Saturday, October 17 from 9 to 11 a.m. Multiple high schools attended, and local teams that participated included LAHS, Archbishop Mitty and Woodside.
The LAHS team won the varsity boys division, with senior Eric Safai taking first place for Division II. Junior Ben Schneider took fourth place and sophomore Austin Bowie took fifth place finish.
The run was a full 5K, which is roughly 3.1 miles long. Ben said the overall temperature and running conditions proved to be a bit challenging for runners.
“It was an extremely hard course, with not one single stretch of flat ground,” Ben said. “It got to the low 90’s, and it had rained the day before so it was really humid.”
Despite the slight setback, Eric finished second in the entire race, which included all divisions.
