Varsity boys water polo defeated rival MVHS 16-8 yesterday, Wednesday, October 7.
Five minutes into the first quarter, the Spartans held a slight lead at 2-0. However, entering the second quarter junior Colin Mulcahy scored the first two goals for Los Altos to even the score at 2-2.
LAHS then widened their lead over MVHS. The Eagles pulled ahead with another four goals by Colin and one each by junior Emilien Fritsch and senior James Christiansen-Salameh.
By the end of the third quarter the score was in the Eagles’ favor at 11-6, with goals added by sophomore Matthew Orton and seniors Alex Bailey and Scott Stephens.
The Eagles went on to seal the win in the fourth quarter with three goals from Colin and one each from James and Scott.
Junior Gary Yu played in goal and had several key blocks.
The boys’ next match is away against Los Gatos on Wednesday, October 14.
