Track and Field Participates in Pacific Grove Invitational

Around 40 members of the track and field team drove to Pacific Grove High School in Monterey Bay for an invitational meet yesterday, April 6. Approximately a dozen other schools were invited to the meet, which consisted of both frosh/soph and varsity competitions.

The meet has no impact on state or regional placement for the team, and there was no “team scoring” to compare the team against others.

The following members of the team placed:

Senior Claire Bowie placed first in the varsity girls 800m with a time of 2:21.82.

Senior Josh Cohen placed third in the varsity boys 1600m with a time of 4:29.95.

Sophomore Elizabeth Li placed third in the frosh/soph girls 100m dash with a time of 14.26.

Freshman Amanda Mell placed second in the varsity girls 100m dash with a time of 13.76, and 1st  in the varsity girls long jump in 16’1″.

Senior Alexandria Bahl placed second in the varsity girls Discus with a distance of 97’2″.

Senior Sarah Wobber placed first in the varsity girls 200m dash with a time of 27.45 and second  in the varsity girls 400m dash with a time of 63.10.

Sophomore Briham Gonzalez placed third in the frosh/soph Boys 400m with a time of 55.87.

Senior Arthur Bogdanovich placed first in the varsity boys 400m with a time of 52.10

Freshman Alex Fache placed third in the frosh/soph boys 800m with a time of 2:16.91.

Sophomore Sami Fakalolo placed first in the frosh/soph boys shot put with a distance of 44’5″ and third in the frosh/soph boys discus with a distance of 121’2″.

Freshman Gredys Carbajal placed third in the frosh/soph boys shot put with a distance of 38’10.5″.

The next and last invitational of the year for the team is the Top 8 Classic on April 19 at San Jose City College.

“This is a meet where most of the best athletes in CCS are competing,” distance coach Dan Oren said. “Our performance at the Top 8 Classic will give us a very good idea where we stand in CCS.”
